Nicole Kidman has found a place for herself in history.Perhaps not your school and college history books but in the history of HOLLYWOOD! Film historian and scholar DAVID THOMSON has turned his attention to Nicole Kidman in a new biography because the star “fascinates” him. Thomson, whose books THE NEW BIOGRAPHICAL DICTIONARY OF FILM and THE WHOLE EQUATION: A HISTORY OF HOLLYWOOD are considered must-reads for studious film fans, has ’studied’ Kidman for his latest tome, called simply NICOLE KIDMAN.

The writer accepts the biography might be a shock for many ardent fans but he felt compelled to cover Kidman’s life. He says, “I admired the way she had gone from being TOM’s (CRUISE) girl and a bit of a joke, to a person who could get difficult films made. She took charge of her own career. “She has the authentic aura of stardom. She glows. She is tall and thin and unquestionably beautiful. She’s not like us.” Kidman even agreed to speak to Thomson as he was completing his research but she left the historian feeling sure that everything in her life is carefully planned and scripted.

He adds, “She gave me answers that I think she had worked out, answers she thought I wanted… She was earnest, thoughtful, taking her profession seriously.” Thomson also completed his biographical “love letter” to Kidman convinced that the newlywed is no fun to live with when she’s playing a character.

Must say history never had such a glamourous twist before…

The Oscar winner has constantly been the subject of pregnancy rumours since hooking up with husband Keith Urban and insists she is not expecting. Kidman’s representative, CATHERINE OLIM, is convinced that photos are intentionally being distorted after one magazine paid $20,000 (GBP11,000) for a shot of the svelte star showing a bit of belly when her stomach is actually flat. She tells MSNBC’s The Scoop, “(I’m) afraid they wasted their money. (Kidman’s) not pregnant.” Olim insisted Kidman wouldn’t be “shooting a film, traveling to Rome for another film, then shooting another film if she were (pregnant).” She adds, “Incidentally, I’m virtually certain paparazzi are distorting photos to make her look pregnant. I’ve seen her, she’s her regular slender self.”

Oxford author Philip Pullman has said he is delighted that Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman will star in the film adaptation of his novel Northern Lights.

Ms Kidman, 39, star of films including The Stepford Wives and Moulin Rouge, was Mr Pullman’s first choice to play sinister socialite Mrs Coulter in The Golden Compass, New Line Cinema’s adaptation of the award-winning first novel in the His Dark Materials trilogy.

The actress confirmed she would accept the role, following weeks of negotiations. , Mr Pullman, who lives in Cumnor, said: “I always hoped she would play Mrs Coulter because of all the wonderful qualities she has as an actress.”

Each of us has a different role to play in this journey called life. We end up doing so many things but what matters at the end of the day is what you’ve done for others. It took me a while before realizing that but looks like Nicole Kidman is working on exactly that!

Kidman will now work with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) on “critical gender concerns such as ending violence against women,” according to a U.N. statement

“I hope that I can act as a conduit, that I can be the person who tells some of these stories,” Kidman told in an interview. “The way in which I was raised and the things I’ve seen in my life has led me toward this.”

According to a survey of Australia’s top 50 entertainers, Miss Kidman doesn’t seem to be earning as much as four men who dress in brightly colored jumpsuits and are best known to preschoolers, the Wiggles!!!
This group made a whopping AUS$45 million ($34.4 million) in 2004, thus becoming the highest paid Australian entertainers of the year! Though Nicole Kidman couldn’t earn that much, she wasn’t far behind… she was comfortably seated on the second position with annual earnings of AUS$40 million ($30.6 million), ahead of Russell Crowe in third, with AUS$27 million ($20.6 million). Now that must’ve been quite a wiggly time for her huh!!!
